Andrew Jon Wright, 1969–2015.

Andrew was raised in Salem and attended Sprague High School. He worked at United Bicycle Parts in Ashland, and in retail at The Bike Gallery in Portland and Bicycles Plus in Salem. In 1993 he and Preston Martin started Bicycle Technologies International in a garage in Ashland, moving the company to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1995 and building it into a major local employer and a national industry leader. He was president and co-owner at the time of his death.

He died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, after a motorcycle accident in Santa Fe while commuting home from BTI.

BTI's statement remembered him as an advocate for his employees and for cycling, noting that he provided fully paid health care and started the company's Advocacy Roundup, which let shops round up their orders to the nearest dollar as a donation to bicycle causes.

From his obituary: “Andrew loved all things mechanical, traveling abroad, and bacon.” He is survived by his wife of thirteen years, Jennifer Steketee; his mother, Cheri Wright; his father, Larry Wright; his brother, Matt Wright, and family.
